Clewiston Police Department AED Donation

Several weeks ago, the Police & Kids Foundation received an equipment grant request from the Clewiston Police Department in Henry County for new AED’s, individual trauma kits, and one advance trauma kit.  The Clewiston Police Department is a small, 22 employee department in a rural agricultural community.  Many times police officers will be the first to arrive on scene of tragic situations and having the right equipment could mean the difference between life and death.

On Monday, September 19, 2022, Police & Kids Foundation President Tracey Schofield presented Clewiston Police Chief, Thomas Lewis, and the Clewiston City Commission with 6 brand new Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s).  The AED’s will be carried by all on-duty officers, one will be mounted at the police department and the other will be mounted at the Animal Services facility that the police department manages.  Also provided were 6 personal trauma kits that each officer on duty will have immediately available in an emergency and one advanced trauma kit that will be carried by the on-duty supervisor at all times.  These trauma kits have advanced lifesaving equipment not normally carried by patrol officers that will allow them to provide aid much more quickly in an emergency situation.

The Police & Kids Foundation wishes to thank all of the citizens who have purchased the “Fallen Law Enforcement Officer” specialty plate.  The proceeds from the sale of our plate are used for the families of fallen first responders in Florida, provide much-needed equipment to smaller Florida law enforcement agencies, and allow us to support children throughout Florida in many different ways.
