Special Thank You to Garrett Carney

Several weeks ago, the Police and Kids Foundation received a donation of a boys BMX bicycle from Garrett Carney, son of Pinellas Park Mayor Sandra Bradbury.

Garrett’s wish for the donation was that we find a deserving child to donate the bicycle to. As fate had it, on April 14, 2023, we were driving to breakfast in Pinellas Park, when we saw a young boy attempting to carry his broken bicycle out of the road.

We stopped to help and were able to provide a temporary fix thanks to a kind neighbor lending us a few tools, but the bike was not safe as it now had no brakes. Later we made contact with Zion’s parents and were able to deliver Garrett's donated bike to them so Zion could get to school safely.

A very special thank you to Garrett for your kind donation, and a big thank you to Zion and his parents for allowing us to help!

Giving does not only precede receiving; it is the reason for it. It is in giving that we receive.
